A first: Follman’s first appearance at ALL4PACK

The expert for speciality chemicals will be presenting its water-based printing inks for flexible packaging at the All4pack 2016 trade fair in Paris from 14th until 17th November.

For four days, interested visitors to this year’s All4Pack – a merger of the Emballage and Manutention shows – will have the opportunity to visit the Follmann stand (140 in hall 6 R) and find out all about the benefits and applications of water-based printing inks. Reference samples are available in the form of sustainable films for FRoSTA packagings, printed with Follmann water-based printing inks, and a fruit mix, also in packaging printed with water-based printing inks, which also serves as a give-away at the same time.

The issue of sustainability is growing in importance – including in the packaging industry. For this reason, Follmann's water-based FOLCO® AQUAFLEX printing ink systems are becoming increasingly popular among manufacturers. Containing water as a substitute for solvent, they ensure a high level of colour quality and brilliance while still being significantly more environmentally friendly than conventional solvent systems. Another benefit of the inks, which have been specially developed for flexographic and gravure printing on pre-treated plastic films such as PE, PP, PET, PA and OPP, is that they are highly cost-effective. While thermal exhaust air cleaning (afterburning) is needed when using solvent-based inks, this disposal process is not required for water-based printing inks as they are thinned only with water. Another factor contributing to cost efficiency is the design of the FOLCO® AQUAFLEX series as a single-component solution, which means the ink can be used right away. For users, this results in shorter set-up times while guaranteeing colour fastness.

Such benefits are appreciated by companies such as FRoSTA. This frozen food manufacturer has been setting new standards in terms of sustainability for some time now. By switching to more environmentally friendly packaging, for which the firm also uses Follmann's water-based printing inks, FRoSTA has managed to reduce its climate footprint by 30 percent and significantly lower the consumption of materials.
